I'm going to be in LA for a couple days next week, and I'll be staying around North Hollywood. Any suggestions on what card room would be the closest? I'll probably play 5-10. I was also wondering if any card rooms run tournaments on Monday nights?

Hollywood Park is closest to you, It's in Inglewood. I don't think anyone in LA plays 5-10 but you'l find plenty of 6-12. Yo may want to wander sown to Commerce(more games and bigger) or Hustler(gotta see place).

CALIFORNIA WEEKLY TOURNAMENTS

12:15PM Bicycle Casino-Bell Gardens Omaha H/L $15 RB $10

Sorry, couldn't get the link to work.

I can't wait to see their online gallery (http://www.hustlergaming.com/gallery.html).

And if Larry Flynt misspelled this, wouldn't you expect to see a u in there somewhere?

the commerce is much closer. form north hollywood, take the 101 south which turns into the 5 south. exit washington blvd, you'll see the commerce on the east side of the freeway.

The four major casinos should be within a 45 minute drive of North Hollywood (assuming it's not rush hour). No room spreads 5-10, but they all spread 6-12. The games are equally good at Hollywood Park, Commerce, Hustler and the Bike. Commerce and Hustler spread 4-8, but I can't remember if the Bike does and I don't think Hollywood Park does (they have 3-6).

Hollywood Park has been holding these "Endless Summer" tournaments most nights. Different game every night, $20 buy-in, multiple rebuys. They're tremendously popular since they're so cheap. Tons of people play them every night and the prize pool is actually respectable for a $20 buy-in event.

FWIW, the Bike's 4/8 goes two to four games deep every day. If you stop by ask for me.

Rick,

How have the 10-20 games been lately? I noticed that Hawaiian Gardens has one now. I thought that 10-20 was going to beburied with 9-18 games and 15-30 would be the new 'middle limit' starting game.

tobdog,

The Bike's 10/20 game goes every day starting around 11:00 am or so and usually stays solid through the late evening. Sometimes we get a second game in the evenings or weekends.

Except during tournaments, we don't get the 15/30 game (although we would like to). If the Bike's 10/20 ever falters, I'm going to re-propose spreading the 12/24 with the same perks and drop as the 10/20. The 12/24 was starting to go strong in early 2002 then they went to jackpot drop and a $4 per hand collection - it died almost overnight. The 12/24 would use $3 chips and fits nicely between the 8/16 jackpot game and the 20/40 games.

I haven't seen the HG 10/20 game. I was over there the other night but played 15/30 and a little baby no limit while waiting for the 15/30. Is it possible you meant the Hustler. I heard they are trying a 10/20 played with green ($2) chips.

Thanks Rick!

It was HG, I was leaving and I heard them calling players to 10-20(might have been an isolated incident) I was at Hustler last night, and didn't see a 10-20, but a greenchip 10-20 sounds like somethign they would do, maybe they will spread it with $1 chips so the players can't see each other at the other end of the table.
