View Full Version : Turbo Holdem Player Setup

Does anyone know how I would setup Turbo Texas Holdem to simulate Low Limit Texas Holdem Players?

The Player setup is the area I am most interested in knowing about. Other setup information such as Game setup than would closely approximate this would be appreciated as well.

I'm a newbie and bought the program b/c Lou Krieger swears by it in much of what I've read by him. I've tried to set it up to simulate low-limit games (mostly by using the loose and weak player profiles). Oftentimes the advisor or Sidewinder Sid tells me to bet or raise in situations that I'm pretty confident I should fold (e.g. holding 2nd pair on the board against pre-flop raisers). I know that the recommendations are based on the program's statistical analysis, but I still feel uncomfortable with some of the recommendations. This discomfort may be based on my limited poker knowledge. At the same time I'm not sure what's better: to make decisions based on the statistical anaylses of the program or to make them based on what I've read of the player (keeping in mind that my reading skills can't be all that great b/c of my newbieness).

Now to my questions: any successful low-limit players use this program? Any of you notice that sometimes the recommendations "seem" to be against (my limited knowledge of) "book" play? Any suggestions on getting the most out of the program for someone who plays .5/$1-$2/$4 on Paradise and $3/$6-$4/$8 in a casino?

Thanks in advance.

The lineup for low limit, its one of the options under "lineup" and then at the start reducing the amount of raising seems to simulate the games I play in fairly well. The only problem I have noticed consistantly with the advice is that the advisor doesn't seem to ever suggest slow playing the flop.

There is a good reason that the advisor never recommends slow playing the flop in low limit -- because you never should! At lower limits people still have a great deal of optimism for their own hands. You can normally play your hands very straight forward and fast without even losing players...and clearly this is the way to make the most from the hand under these circumstance.
