I have two questions about the $.50/$1 game at Paradise Poker:

1) Sometimes there will be a $.25 chip in the pot before the deal. What is this?

2) When a pot of say $6.25 is split between two players, one gets $3.00 the other $3.25. What is the rule for determining who gets the extra $.25?

Thanks in advance.

Hugo,

I don't know the answer to #2, but in regard to #1, if a player sits out and misses the blinds, he is required to post both the small and big blinds in order to play again. The .50 is his live bet, the .25 is extra and goes into the pot.

The chip goes to the player that started the hand with the most money or bought in with the most money, not sure which. I think it is the former.

In live games, the chip would usually go to the player closest or furthest to the button. Poker rooms can establish their own rules for these situations. Of course, they must be consistent when enforcing the rule.

depending on the game in split pots the high hand gets the odd chip. or in one winner games the person in the worst opening position may get it. other games its broken down to the smallest chip.

its different wherever you play.
