View Full Version : Variance in NL vs. limit

I've seen several posts that claim playing no-limit has smaller swings than playing a comparable level of limit hold'em. I can guess that it might have something to do with being able to make your opponents make significantly worse decisions in NL, and my admittedly tiny amount of NL experience seems to back this up, but intuitively I'd think that the chance for someone to suck out and take your entire stack would make NL an inherently higher variance game. Can anybody do a better job of convincing me one way or another?
