I need general advice for Multi -Table Tourneys

How do your properly play a multi table tournament. Play tight? Play loose? My general experience has been to play a little loose int he beginning and than tighten up in the end. Usually one or two large pots per hour are all I need. Anyone have Suggestions to better my placing?
