I saw this show on PBS about Cuba, once. They went to a Cuban fast food restaurant. It was real colorful bright like it was designed by a neo-plasticist or something. The lady behind the cash register taking the orders looked right too. All perky and uniformed and everything. The menu was displayed real big above the counter, just like Wendy’s or McD’s. There was something wrong though. There was hardly anybody sitting at the tables, but the line to place an order was long. It was really long. See, they only had one guy making food, and he was making it from scratch, one order at a time, for each person, while they waited. I guess these Communists knew there was something called fast food that people really liked, but they didn’t understand it.

When I walk through the Mirage and see people playing 6-12 with five-dollar and one-dollar chips, I think of Cuban fast food.

The Mirage 6-12 pace of play is lightning fast compared to the Bellagio 8-16 using the same $1 and $5 chips.

The casino would recoup the investment in $2 chips within a year simply due to added drop from extra hands/hr.

I agree completely...being from LA, I'm used to using $2 chips in 6-12 and 8-16 games. Using $5 and $1 chips for the 8-16 at Bellagio drove me insane. I can't understand why they don't switch. I mean, new chips can't cost that much, can they??

This post is very amusing.

Mohegan Sun (R.I.P) had $3 chips called turtles (they were green and brown with a turtle on them) for their 3-6 game. I always wondered why they didn't spread 6-12 with them also. Either way, they were tremendous not only for the game but helped the dealers with rake as many pots are raked $3 and $4 which is one or 2 chips instead of all whites. I've wondered why more places don't have these.

Perhaps there are more turtles in the Atlantic compared to the Pacific! /images/graemlins/smile.gif
