What does it mean when a player at a table calls for a new set up?


What is a set up?

It is two new decks of cards brought to the table replacing the two currently there. It is done after both the other decks have been used. To ask for a set up usually means a player is running bad and is a little superstitious.:-) It is fine to ask for new decks when cards are bent or marked (I don't mean to imply the whole deck is marked very often, but cards pick up marks sometimes either accidentally or intentionally) or when they have somebody's bodily fluids on them. Don't get in the habit of asking for new decks when you don't get a good hand for 22 whole minutes like some players.

I'm glad to say I've never asked for a set-up or even a deck change.

i only asked for one. when the As was bent by the jerk who didn't raise with his AA preflop and then bent his AA on the showdown when my 83o in the BB flopped 2 pair and took him for a lot of chips.
