to hell with zero tolerance

for the past couple of months, I've been working and playing at the bicycle casino. the bike enforces their zero tolerance policy much better than most of the other casinos, so the players are much more well-behaved there. it's a very relaxing place to play.

the other night, I went to the commerce to play, and it was like a homecoming. first I played 40-80, where iris was yelling, "scramble!" and "change the deck, dickhead!" sammy the bull was throwing cards and cursing the dealer, and sometimes the other players. he even went so far as to tell one guy who sucked out on him to be careful on his way home.

what a great game.

then I went to the 100-200, where, after a bad beat, a player said to the dealer, "f*** you!" without missing a beat, the dealer said, "f*** you too!" and the game went on.

sometimes I really miss the commerce.

Commerce blew my mind when I first visited it in June. I'd never seen behavior like that in a poker room before... or basically anywhere in life.

At the expense of sounding prudish (which, believe me, I am NOT), I would hazard a guess that I would never set foot inside the place again after witnessing that sort of (apparently tolerated) behavior.

Life's too short to be in any sort of close proximity to scumbags like the ones you describe.

Hi snake- Sounds like a bunch of recreational players on permatilt. Should make for easy pickins' if you can stand the collegiate atmosphere. Since these guys are not punished for acting out, I guess they think this behavior is cute. I think it would be annoying after awhile, but to each his own. LGPG, Babe /images/graemlins/heart.gif

I just happen to enjoy playing with the maladjusted sickos at the commerce. I know most people would rather play at the bike where everyone behaves themselves.

yeah i heard about this. if you spit on someone you are warned that you will have to say youre sorry next time. and after the second time you are warned you may get a 20 minute time out (which you are let out of with an apology). fortunately all players start over with a clean slate when they take collection so everyone can get in a good loogie at the dealer or another player every half hour. it's a great place.

Iris should be permanently barred. I know people that won't play in her game. She is a disgusting, horrid bitch who makes any game she's in unplayable.

The only thing I can think is that she plays so badly they stay in the game with her. I will swtich as soon as possible when she comes into the game.

The worst part, although it's hard to single out one thing, is that she's a racist. She will go into what she thinks is an Asian accent in ridiculing a dealer who had the temerity to deal a winning hand to another player.

She will tell Asian dealers they're stupid to their face. "Please" and "thank you" are not part of her vocabulary; she prefers "scramble, beauty!" instead. She will deliberately place her bets outside the bet line so the dealers have to stretch and work hard to collect them. Same thing with mucked cards. Absolutely obnoxious when she's stuck, which is a good deal of the time.

We seem to agree she is a disgraceful, horrid, racist and disgusting person but for me there is a bright side. I've used thoughts of Iris to improve my sex life. Just when I'm enjoying "the act" a bit too much too early, I let a thought of Iris creep momemtatrily into my head (the key is the thought must be momentary - any excessively long thought would lead to dry deflation). Of course, as I age this useful function will cease to be necessary ;-).

The following is a partial copy of a post I wrote for the other topics forum. I was discussing target practice techniques with my handguns. I think that it may fit into this thread as a sidebar and as filler material to round out the "to hell with zero tolerance" idea.

I was smoking a cigar while shooting and was plunking away at a stand of metal targets all in a row that you can knock over etc. Then I started a practice run were I shoot one handed at a single target until I knock it down and if I don’t on the first shot; I start walking toward the metal stand firing as I go until I get the target down, puffing on the cigar all the while.

This is good practice in case I get into a gun battle at some casino poker room. I heard that there are some very tough and mean players at the Commerce and I want to be fully prepared for the next time I play there.
