I am very new to the idea of "selling a piece" of myself for entry into a tournament. I was wondering if there is an expected or extra value that i should receive for the one actually playing in the tournament, for my time. If so, could some you more experienced tourney poker players enlighten me on the protocal concearning this area. Thanks for any and all input.

There is no standard.

If it's a one-time event, especially if they're only buying a small piece, I would say most commonly you get NO bonus for playing. E.g., if they buy 10% of you for one event, they usually just pay 10% of the total cost of playing.

However, that doesn't mean you can't do better. But I would never give ANYBODY more than a 20% freeroll for one event, and there truly are almost no players for whom I'd pay that. If I'm buying 10% of a very good player, I might pay 11%.

If this is a long term deal, then you can give them a much bigger freeroll.
