I don't know if I could lay this down, unless I had seen this betting pattern from my opponent before, but I am certainly concerned enough, that I am not raising him at any point. I think you did fine.

If the board is truly Axxr, I will frequently check in that spot. If button bets, I'll checkraise (or checkraise 3-bet if the blind checkraises). If its checked through, I'll call the blind on the turn and bet if checked to.
