[The Origin of the Pinky Overlap.]

I don't play Golf, but when I watch it on T.V. I notice everybody holds the club with their pinky wrapped over, or overlapping the forefinger of their other hand. Now I assume that when golf was invented in Scotland people didn't start off with this way of gripping a club. So my question is:

Is there somebody in particular who popularized the Pinky Grip?

It's credited to Vardon, but apparently others came up with it at around the same time. One of those things we'll probably never know for sure.

not all golfers use it. if you look at Jack Nicklaus, his pinky hooks under the fore finger. this is usually a result of having small hands. when i was a kid there were touring pros who used a baseball grip, but i don't know if any still do.
