View Full Version : Foxwoods or Mohegan Sun?

Which casino is better for low-limit. I've played Foxwoods and I thought the rake was pretty high.

Which casino has more fish? (I think I'm a fish myself.)

Are there a lot of people working tables at those places?

I will be going to MA for only one day and won't have time to check both out.

Thanks.

Mohegan Sun's poker room is closing in 2 weeks forever.

Mohegan Sun is closing its poker room, or has already for all I know. Maybe someone else knows exactly what is going on up there to fill you in.

From the couple of times I've played at Foxwoods, the 2/4 game had a good sucker ratio. One rockish old man, a drunken gambler, a couple Matt Damon Rounders wannabes and five complete suckers. I haven't been there all summer, but I'm looking forward to getting back there in the next week or so.

The Sun is closing it's room after Labor Day. Go to the Fox, give yourself and hour before you get there and call: 860.312.5374 and put you name on the list. The lists have been HUGE lately, especially on the weekends. They spread 2/4, 4/8 for lower limits and both games are made of virtually the same fabric of players (really loose passive). There is a 5/10 game with a Kill @100 which I now frequent which is also very loose. I say skip the 2/4, and buy in for $200 at the 4/8.

Enjoy,

Hey, did I give you that number? I thought I was the only one with the direct line! I don't feel nearly as special now. /images/graemlins/smile.gif

That may not be entirely true. The newest rumor is that they plan on reopening a new, bigger room in a year. We'll just have to wait and see.

I think the only way to settle this argument is to see who has that number on their speed dial on their cell phone!

Just trying to help the situation JTG /images/graemlins/grin.gif.

Why would they close it when so many people are starting to play? Why would they close it to open a bigger one? Why not keep it open, and make a bigger room?

I've played at both a couple of times, the 5/10 kill at the Sun is @ 65 compared to the Woods' 100, makes for better pots and more ppl playing above their level looking to hit a couple of big hands. I'm actually heading up there on Saturday to say good bye to Mohegan, but from what i've heard the room is starting to break down with less dealers avalible to open up tables....so the jump to Foxwoods hasn't been ruled out.

Anybody gonna be in the area this weekend?

Thanks Joe!

It's pretty funny, sometimes if I look through my outgoing call history on my cell phone it looks like:

Foxwoods
Foxwoods
Foxwoods
Joe
Foxwoods
Foxwoods
Foxwoods

No doubt that one call to you was to ask if you wanted to go to Foxwoods. /images/graemlins/smile.gif

Last time I was there the Dealer told the table that the poker room generated 11 million last year and that number was incorrectly stated to the "tribal elders", the poker room grew in profits more then anyother area in the casin but management didn't get to see this, so they thought they would make an economic switch to a nickel slots area estimated to bring in 60 million the first year it opens. She also said teh slots would be geared toward Asian players, because one of the slot rooms now has a floor below the ground level and has a step down leading into it which is believed to be bad luck. 450 full time dealers were told to either leave or learn a new game. All floor management were given new assignments from what she told us.

She had dealt there for 7 years and was not pleased. Its amazing how they can do this, like the place doesn't take in a gazillion dollars a year....

Chances of a new poker room in a year.....Not so good.

What's the "kill" mean? I don't think I experienced that the time I played there and lost all my money.

Pimping and drug dealing gave them the excuse they needed to close.

At Foxwoods 5/10 when the pot goes over $100 the level of play goes to 10/20 and the winner of the $100+ pot (the 'killer') posts a $10 blind but the original blinds still stay the the 5/10 level (2/5).

At the Sun a Kill pot is over $65, same rules.

If you lost there, you most likely have some serious leaks in your game. Posts some hands here and you'll get straight in no time.

Come on Joe, that's just silly. No game is easy enough that playing well means you'll win every session. I've played my best poker in very good games and gotten my a$$ kicked many times.

He probably has leaks in his game because most everyone does, but the results of one session don't give even the slightest indication if that's the case or not.

Thus, drop the 'most' and the 'serious'. I was just trying to emphasize that the games are soft.

You going down there tonight? Or this weekend?

Yup, I know, and I know. Was that enough I knows to appropriately answer that question?

I didn't read anything about 'one session'.

For what it's worth, he did say "the time I played there" not the times I played there. Since we both know that the other knows that we know what the other knows though, it's irrelevant.

You going down there tonight? Or this weekend?

No, not this weekend. It's getting harder and harder for me to make the drive when I can play 180 hands an hour online, you know?

Played a couple of times, and lost both times.. Not cause of the cards. After reading some books and a bunch of posts on here, I realize it wasn't the cards. I was in there "just to see the flop" etc. Calling station. I want to go back to see what I've learned. Can't gauge anything off of home games, and too scared of starting a bad habit by playing on line.

JT,

It's gonna take "me" to do the driving for JTG. It's like driving Ms Daisy, but different. I know you know what I know you know what I mean /images/graemlins/confused.gif.

I played the 2-4 at Foxwoods on a recent Sunday night and Monday afternoon. Both games were fairly loose passive, and I was able to win $220 during the ten hours total I played, even though I've only been playing for a couple of months now. Bring your best fishing pole! /images/graemlins/grin.gif

Not only are the LL games loose and passive, but the fish think they're the best players in the world. I hit it Monday nights for the tourney dregs and believe me it's gooooooood. Verrrrry gooooooooood.

Only problems with FW are the rake and seat changes. There's always a wait, and the dealers treat seat change buttons like the Hope diamond.
