I just received a long awaited book, "The Spanish Inquisition" by Henry Kamen. A quote starts every Chapter. For chapter one the quote is from a textile-worker of Reus, Catalonia, 1632-
"Asked if he believed in God, he said Yes, and asked what it meant to believe in God, he answered that it meant eating well, drinking well and getting up a ten o'clock in the morning."
What a refreshing civil attitude!
Of couse, I have a hunch that the book may go a bit downhill from this point. I'll let everyone know how it ends.
