Hi,been playing hold'em and studying the game for about a year, have read some of the top author's on the subject, and use Wilson's TTH sofeware.Just found a 10-20 home game in neighbour which saves me times going to to casino, fairly loose game and sometimes very loose.Try to play a tight aggressive game and once in a while call in early position with 78suited or better for deception.First time playing there made $400,no one's play really impressed me,they would play A with any card, and a lot of garbage hands even when raised.Next time l played lost about $400,was playing good starting hands group 1 and 2,and in later postion added some group 3-7 hands if the action wasn't to aggressive. Some example's of hands l lost, AK in the hole the flop K 3-2 off suit, l raised preflop 4 callers, bet the flop 2 callers turn card 8,bet 1 caller, river 9,bet get raised,l call he opens 3-9. Pocket kings in the hole raise, few callers, bet turn, 1 caller left, river A,he bets,l call opens A with five kicker. After the flop l have a flush draw for the nut, l raise the better no flush on the turn get a free card, can't close. Top pair next flop with a strong kicker,l bet gets me on a back door flush.
Third time l played there lost again, about $500 with good cards.
Next time playing down about $600 pushing the bets with strong hands getting rivered.Early postion with pocket 44
it's raised and reraised l muck get's capped, the flop hit's a 4 and the turn is a 4,unbelieveable,a few situations like this happened, how can you justify a call?
Hit a couple of nut flushes that night got my money back, but [censored] man this is too much.
l'm aware of my surroundings, don't see any monkey business going on in the game. l personally don't think there are great players there, though there are some good players there.
Just by taking to some of these players, they don't know the odds of flopping a pair, two pair, trips and so on,pot odds
justification calls, and some of there comments don't sound logical.
l except what happens at the table, that's just part of the game.
lf you have any comments l would like to hear what you have to say,and l thank you. The Rookie

from your post you seem to be results oriented. that makes it almost impossible for you to learn the game correctly to win at it. do some more reading and try to think about playing correctly forward and not about specific hand results. good luck.

Rookie,

What happens in loose games is that high cards like AK and big pairs like AA or KK lose their value when you have four or more players entering the pot. On average the AK with 4 or 5 players is a favorite individually against the bad hands but collectively it is around a 33% favorite in these types of situations. I suggest reading the Loose Games section in Hold'em Poker For Advanced Players.

Good Luck
