I am still new at this. If I have an open ended straight draw after the turn, do I have a 28.5% chance of hitting the straight?

according to my math, I get 46 unseen cards left, 8 cards make your straight so you would make your hand 8 times out of 46 (5.75:1) tries which is 17.3%. How did you get 28%?

So i need to have pot odds of 6 to 1 or better to call?

If your beat then yes, 6 to 1 pot ratio to bet, however, often times people will add implied odds to it. If you hit how many callers will you get, will you get called at all? If it is no limit and your opponent bets the pot you might have implied odds to call this if you think he will call on the river or go all in on you ect...

if there is no flush draw out there, you might be heads up and he might not be drawing at it, but if its there you might want a little more than that if there is a suited board too, 6 outs instead of 8 (46:6) 7.67:1 or 13%

This is way wrong. On the flop there are 47 unknown cards. But I'll be generous and say we are on the turn. There are 46 unknonw cards. so the odds are 38:8 or 4.75:1.

Same mistake here. Odds are 40:6

how do you get 40 unseen cards? I count 2 of mine, 4 on the board(he said one card to go) which is 52-6=46? Did I miss something?

There are 46 unknown cards. If you believe you have 6 good outs with 46 unknown cards then the odds for a fair wager are 40:6. 40 is the number of cards that you lose with, 6 is the number you win with.
