Please explain the blinds/position for me.

I use the auto post blinds on Party and sometimes I get to
see my hole cards free and sometimes I don't.
When I'm at the first position left of the button, it's
always .25 and second position is always .50, but beyond these
seats I can always see my whole cards free.
How does this work?

In a fixed position game like hold'em, the blinds take the place of antes. In the other positions, you see your cards for free, but have to at least call the big blind to play.
