beginner tourney Question

Being a tournament newbie, I wanted to know what the difference was between a rebuy and an add on. When and how would you do each? Thanks for the info.

Rebuys are generally allowed when you have less than the starting amount of chips in front of you. Most tourneys offer rebuys for a set period (say, one hour). At the end of this period you can buy a once-only add on, which is available to everyone, regardless of their chip count. Both rebuys and addons usually buy you the starting amount of chips for the cost of the entry fee.

Note that in some tournaments the Rebuy can be made only once, and they don't require you to have less than the starting chips. This is the way Foxwood's in CT runs their tournaments so what they call a rebuy is effectively an addon.
