Holmes and Watson are lying down at night on Dartmoor while searching for the elusive Baskerville dog when Holmes say, ‘Watson, my dear fellow, look up and tell me what you see’; and Watson looks up, draws on his pipe, thinks for a moment and says, ‘I see stars’.
So Holmes says, ‘My dear chap, you can do better than that’; and Watson says, ‘Well, there’s Orion and I can see Betelgeuse and Aldebaran and ….’ Holmes is now quite exasperated and says angrily, ‘Come, come, Watson, what do you deduce from what you’re seeing?’ Watson thinks long and hard and finally says, ‘It’s a fine night, Holmes.’ To which Holmes responds, ‘You damn fool, Watson. Someone’s stolen our tent’.
