Single table satellite (semi-tight, aggressive) at the Taj 4 players left I’m the short stack with T300. The rest (T2700) is pretty evenly divided between the other 3 players. Blinds just went up to 50 & 100. I’ve sat through 3 or 4 orbits getting nothing but bricks. I’m dealt A6o in the small blind - Chip leader and 2nd fold to me. I go all in to try and steal (I’ve been playing tight – few steals). BB calls (of course!). Flips over J7o. Flop is bricks, he catches a J on the turn and I’m off for an early lunch. I know A6o is almost a coin flip against 2 random cards (57/43) but it was the best I’d seen.
Question is did I wait too long to try and steal even though I’d have been stealing with total bricks, or should I have tried to wait and catch a better hand on the next orbit with less than T200?
