This is not intended as a bad beat story. The board makes a straight flush. I have the ace of that suit. Was my nut flush counterfeited by the board?

If not, what does counterfeiting mean?

Yes, that would be an example of counterfeiting, unless of course the board was a K high straight flush. Then you'd have a royal.

Counterfeiting happens more often with two pair hands. For example, you have 76 and the flop is A76. If the turn and river were both 9's, your hand would be counterfeited as anyone with an Ace now beats you.

That would have been nice. No such luck.

Thanks. I was pretty sure that was correct, but some people looked at me strangely when I used it.
