View Full Version : stop teasing me

My wife saw an article in the paper about some guy who put up a batting cage in his backyard and wondered if we had space inour backyard for one. I immediately said yes. Then I went out and measured. The longest straight run with enough width for the cage is only 30 feet. After the raised beds fall apart(which should be soon), I can probably stretch it to 40 feet. The 30 foot section is more realistic, though. Is that enough? I argued with her that we could set up the pitching machine and figure the relative velocity, but she thinks you have to be able to track the ball for 60.5 feet, regardless of the speed of the pitch. I found a cage on e-Bay for $300 that is good for baseball and golf(My wife perked up noticably with this news). My gut says it won't work, but I'm not giving up without a fight.
