As a soon-to-be-married sportswriter without any extra money to create any semblance of a bankroll (at least not without my soon-to-be-wife strangling me) yet also with a healthy (and growing) interest in poker, I'd like to know what the best online poker sites are for finding regular play-money tournaments. I currently play the play-money Ultimate Bet games (and enjoy them), but I'd love to get involved in some tournaments, regardless of if they're crapshoots or not. Any help on where to find play-money tournaments would be appreciated.

Americascardroom used to have a bunch of freeroll multi-tables. But (and as PeeWee says, it's a BIG but), acr is right in the middle of a changeover in management with some new policies being implemented. Their info page says the freerolls will be reinstated but isn't very specific about when.

I've played in some giant freerolls on pokerstars but they were so big, and the payoff so remote that I felt it was just a waste of time. That said, stars does have some $1 buy-in tourneys. You can afford a buck, can't ya, even on a sportwriter's salary?

Gosh, that's pushing it tight ... Maybe there's some loose change under the sofa cushions ... If my fiancee saw me doing this ... /images/graemlins/wink.gif

My wife wasn't crazy about poker either until I told her we (four of us) were going on a 7-day cruise last May courtesy of the fish at Party poker. She's a bit more understanding about it now.

All these sites have (or had when I paid attention to such things) freerolls. I get the feeling you're looking for play money tourneys, but these seem to be a little better for you. Eventually you may beat the huge fields and get a $20-$50 payoff. Then you can real tourneys. Hope this helps, and good luck.
