View Full Version : Last Chip Standing...

The last skirmish the SPM fought was lead by two kings. They were the first picture pair during the seven hour Hold'em War games. The SPM's army of chips had already been reduced to less than the four bets required to make the fight interesting. The SPM raised pre-battle, then Mr Dealer flopped an Ace of course, conventional wisdom says he did it out of pure meanness. The early position General who had limped in, had a fighting strategy of, never fold a hand when you got chips. General Igot Chips bet the flop, the SPM made a crying raise and after the turn the SPM's entire remaining army of chips was committed. Of course they were being sacrificed in a futile emotional out burst. It was a ridiculous suicide mission. Did General Igot Chips have an ace in the hole. Do birds sing? Do beans make gas that erupts into something smelly for all to enjoy? Of course he had the ace, I did say it was a ridiculous suicide mission.

Back at Head Quarters, two clicks up from the neck. A meeting of the Brass held an informal inquisition on the battle plan used by the SPM. Yes, those kings were impressive pre-battle, they had macho written all over their royal posteriors. Pocket Kings however, sometimes turn out to be closet homosexuals after a flop in the hey. So why did the SPM send his chips on a suicide mission once their gender was revealed? It surly was a good question, when the smoke clears after a self inflected wound begins to heal. You can finally see the forest behind the trees. How many times does a General of chips need to do this, before he begins to think before jumping into a blazing fire with a can of gas. It appears the SPM needs to do this every time his emotions get out of control. Random cards have no personal agenda against anyone. But emotions don't need much to go on a rampage. Can those remaining chips be turned into cold hard cash? Yes! Could one use the cash for breakfast for two? Yes! So why oh why do the last chips standing need to be sacrificed? In the final analysis there is no logical reason. On any Hold'em battlefield your greatest enemy is the beast inside. The dragon of our own emotions will drag us into a senseless battle, if we don't control the beast.. Hopefully the next time this happens the SPM will find a more logical choice rather than committing chip suicide.

A foolish but most gallant sacrifice, Your Lordship, if I may say so.

Now, if only Lord Tennyson were at the table...
