Poker Chips.

just a cool dealie from Target...they're a heavy plastic (the size of clay chips) - not like Bicycle crummy ones...

I just like having them in my hand when I'm playing...and I'm gonna use them to track my BR in the Internet Open Challenge (which starts in 2 hrs for me) -

Any other online players keep a stack of chips nearby for playing with when you need to feel the chips in yer hand? -

There are studies where people who hold pencils in their hands in times of advanced upper level intellectual thinking, it shows increased brain activity, and higher productivity, even if you don't use the pencil's primary function (no, not to chew on it).

This may transfer over with chips. Or maybe you're just bored and need to play with something when not involved in a hand.

3 or 4 years ago, my brother and I bought our Dad a really nice set of poker chips (had the family name on them). They are really nice for playing with. Dad had bought himself a six sided poker table and now he has to host all the home games. /images/graemlins/cool.gif But they are cool. Don't use them when I'm playing online though.

How long have you had these tendencies?

No, but I have a cleaver with a bell on it that has a calming effect on me just laying nearby. The bell is for the cats protection in case being nearby isn't calming me enough. Otherwise the cats would never come out from their little hidyholes.

I had some crappy plastic chips I kept in hand for a while, I think because they happened to be near the computer.

I think most of the Zoo members would want the opposite, they'd take their mouse to the casino and click it theraputically.

Duh I'm getting CTS from shuffling chips 15 hours a week at my B&M, doing it at home is mildly unnecessary..

Which is of course why I have a deck to 1-hand-cut over and over with at the computer..

oh..since I was a teenager..

it's just after 3 or 4 hours, I can't keep playing with my usual big stack, so I gotta start playing with chips...(hell getting old, I tell ya.)

I keep a deck of cards by my PC and I shuffle it constantly. I'm not sure if its voluntary anymore.

I played at Canterbury 3 times last week...(took a $450 win down to $75 before I quit and also got cut off by the wait staff 3 times....DOH!!!!)

I think part of the reason is because I had so much fun playing with the chips and cards....but now with the I-net challenge, I'm staying in some LL for awhile - RB

Last year during my first trip to Las Vegas, I took home about a dozen different $1 chips from the various casinos I played in and visited. Since then I have amassed 50 or so different chips from other places and yes, I do shuffle them while I play online. I don't know if it has a calming affect (effect?) or any theraputic value but I do like the sound they make when I slam a stack down on my computer desk.
The chips also trigger a memory of where they were acquired although sometimes it's not a good one. You can't go wrong for a buck and they don't shrink in the wash!

I do that with $5 chips, but I've only gotten 4 so far.

I figure, either I've got enough dough to spare $5 - or else the last $5 of my BR won't matter...LOL -

Funny post, and I thought i was a freak,
because I have three chips that I keep by the computer and often i practice tricks with the chips, ie hold three and let the middle one drop, spin it around and replace it to its original position, sure you've all seen it..

I do that trick too, i started using four and dropping two from the middle to spin. I also shuffle them and roll them over and under a sideways stack in my hand.

Anyone know any new tricks, these are getting old

Whenever I have a pencil I'm usually doing that stupid spin trick where you roll it over the back of your thumb. And of course, I play with chips when playing online. I really think it's just boredom. There's not a whole lot of intellectual thinking going on here, I assure you of that /images/graemlins/cool.gif
