is, IMO, one of the biggest wastes of money in the world.

A 160k car that redlines at 6500 RPM? wtf.

The Corvette is pretty much just as good spec-wise, and costs about 80k less.

The GT doesn't even look that cool. Plus, it's a Ford.

GTS stands for Guaranteed Tremendous Safety. I understand why you wouldn't want just a GT.

Which is the main reason to stay away. the Vette and the Viper are better cars and its not close.

I can't wait for the new Challenger to get built is it 2009 yet

With Ford, it's not so much the vehicles that suck balls, as the dealers.

The dealers suck balls so hard though, it's worth staying away. Particularly from what is bound to be a fussy, cranky, proto-car.

I think the GT is a beautiful car. I don't like Corvettes.

The person who would buy this car doesn't car that it redlines at 6500...

Emon,

Your last statement is the one that is relevant, not the redline. 160K is ferrari land, Ford will lose a lot of money on this car.

MrKilla,

Vette and Viper do not compete here, Viper is much closer but still very different market segments.

Like most things, it's subjective. When you start talking about exotic sports cars, there are multiple different philosophies and design choices. All the cars in this category are making trade offs of one things versus another. Part of the GT is to bring back the spirit of the original GT40 LeMans race car (which they did). The american companies have all gone with large displacement low revving engines that produce a lot of torque. Ferrari's have tended to be lower displacement high revving engines (the 360 was only a 3.6 litre V8 but turned out close to 400 HP). Porsche goes with a flat 6 but turbo charges their exotic to get 415 HP (in the 996 TT). Each of these cars has certain positive characteristics. The GT looks better in person than it does in photographs. The corvette is clearly the performance/$ winner but it's build quality is terrible. The C6 is better than the C5 but it's still horrible.

I agree that if I was going to spend $150K on a car, I wouldn't chose the GT but I don't think it's as bad as you make it out to be.
