check folds?

Who limps in this stage of the game anyway? Crazy

you absolutely have to check fold here. Button could be limping with a small ace, instead of raising, because of the short stack. Maybe he doesn't want to take risks with say A7. But more importanly you have no room to bet with your left over stack. You have 12xx, it's just not enough to bet and then fold. You have position on the short stack, you're basically a lock for CASH. Check fold.

Those who want to trap you.

but its a very very obvious sign of strength

i wouldn't get involved with anything less than 2 pair or a straight AND flush draw

if the villain regularly limped then it would be a different story but as its his first there are obvious alarms going off

That would only makes sense if Hero had button significantly covered. This is a donkish button play any way you look at it.

It's not fun, but I agree with the check-folders. Pushing is obviously second-best, but I think it's a distant second.

Check-fold. Yeah. Ace on board = scary.

i pushed, figuring i'd have 9 outs if i got called. in retrospect and after reading the posts, i think check/fold would have been better. getting a-i with a 9-outer sucks.

as it turned out, villain calls with a8o (and i suck out... hehehe).

If you're going to be this aggro, why not just push pf?

I'm certainly a check/fold guy here. For obvious, non-card, limper reasons.

Because the flop is actually a good flop and he may now be way ahead (with outs if he isnt) instead of definitely behind.

Really? At the $55s, are you putting this guy on a hand range here that doesn't include a bunch of aces?

If he has an ace why didnt he raise? Why cant he have JT, Q9s, KQ etc etc, 77 that he decides to fold to the bet. why does he have to have an ace so often, and eevn when he does we have plenty of outs.

Curtainz said he may be ahead, not that he is ahead.

Thinking about it, you have 5 outs to two pair, 4 outs to a damn near nut straight (only A5o/maybe 55 calls you here). That's a pretty damn good chance of winning this hand, if you don't win because of folds/you're ahead.

People love Ax, and A2-A6/A7 seems very likely here.

btw we win against A8 about 35-36% of the time.

Yeah, missed the 4 outer to the straight. Do you call if flop is A74?

I check fold an A74 flop lastchance. Backdoor flush draw doesnt hurt either.
