View Full Version : Adventures of the SPM...

The SPM and his mighty red army of chips marched boldly into battle Friday near the shores of Lake Michigan. It was East Chicago, IN aboard the luxury casino boat called Harrah's. Entering the Hold'en battle via a feeder game that was full for a anno second. It was a short handed playing field, for four solid hours. Where were all the Chip Generals, probably still working at their day jobs? Lucky for the SPM his day job is answering the phone and taking orders. Which due to the marvelous technology called a cell phone, made it possible for him to beat the rush to the battle grounds and still be at his day job.

Jumping into the fight immediately with two hooks the mighty red army, lead by the SPM, splashed a fierce raise from the big blind. The raise scared no one. The fighting continued at the turn! Then near the river, there was one of those situations, where all the enemy needed was a single card to foil the SPM and his troops. It was a tense moment called CHECK. Nevertheless, the enemy surrendered and the SPM had increased the size of his red army. There was much happiness in the SPM camp. But, our story does not end there . . .

The line had been drawn in the sand and everyone wanted to be the top dog, king of the hill, monsters of the midway. As the minutes turned into hours, it seemed the SPM was using his chips to play yo-yo. His red army seemed to be confused. Was it poor leadership or was it some mysterious phenomena called, THE ONE CARD NUTS? Something strange was happening and it was ugly. Could it have been a dealer conspiracy, was it random card selection gone mad, or was it National Flush Day? It seemed like every time the SPM and his red army was winning the battle at the turn. The dealer of dirty tricks would turn over the one card that gave another lucky SOB the ONE CARD NUTS. Granted this, can happen sometimes but not all of the time. The Bell Curve was bending randomness into a luxury ride down an easy street for the any two cards will do members of the Hold'em community.

Finally things got back to normal, the SPM flopped a set of sevens, but the late position pre-flop raiser flopped a set of aces. So that was the straw that broke the SPM's daily bankroll. He limped off the boat a defeated busted poker player, and he vowed he'd never play poker ever again, until tomorrow.
