Hilarious. Since Canadians helped us with liquor durring prohibition, I now favor a liberal government spending program. Every Canadian coming to this country legally should get a free American made pistol. Regular capacity (15+ magazines) and some ammo to go with it. How they get it back is their problem, but we want them to have a nice stay here. LOL. /images/graemlins/laugh.gif

78 murders is very low for a city that size, and it was up from 35 the previous year. Watch Bowling for Columbine, Michael Moore goes around Toronto opening peoples' front doors. The vast majority of them are left unlocked. Would you rather live in a city like that or a city like NY or LA?

I don't quite get the point of your rant. Could you elaborate?

"Watch Bowling for Columbine"

No.

The Canadians are your typical liberals who want to have it both ways. They refuse to extradite those americans who could face the death penalty and thus cause in part the violence that they are worried we are exporting, and yet blame us for exporting that same violence. Without ever questioning the role that their own legal system might play in this.

(note: I am personally against the death penalty in the majority of cases.)

No wonder they're getting guns! /images/graemlins/cool.gif

a majority of these guns are coming from drug dealers here in the U.S., many of which are swapped, in addition to cash, in many drug deals. Keep in mind, Canada is basically a lame duck on drugs, especially Marijuana, which is one of the most popular drugs in the U.S. I would have to think if Canada cracked down hard on drugs and drug dealers in Canada, a lot of these guns would disappear as well.

The proper critique/joke about Canada is "Canada? what is that? It's a country? really?....north of Montana!!!! now I know you're kidding."

Not the tasteless joke/critique you made. Let them do whatever they want in their igloos... they don't bother me any.

No, I didn't say the shooting was hilarious. I said the moronic whining was hilarious. It is, unless you think it has any merit whatsoever, in which case it is tragic like the shooting. Now you are enlightened.

Yes, just like Americans are fat hamburger eating morons whose idea of culture is a trip to Walmart and whose international policy consists of invading countries that can't put up a fight.

"Of course, there is a minor problem with the attacks on the U.S. Canadians really don't know what the facts are, and the reason is simple: Despite billions of dollars spent on the Canada's gun-registration program and the program's inability to solve crime, the government does not how many crime-guns were seized in Canada"

The fact is that the Liberal government who brought in the gun registration at over 200 times the expected budget is desperately trying to cover up their misdeed during this election time, and finding whatever scapegoats they can. Also, because the liberal goverment purposely brings in immigrants from foreign countries such as Pakistan and India to vote for them around election time in key ridings, they will probably win again.

If you are interested in the TRUTH, then you would probably rather see Michael and Me (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0009PW03Q/qid=1135880915/sr=8-1/ref=pd_bbs_1/002-2132436-2917664?n=507846&s=dvd&v=glance) by Larry Elders.

Much more factual than Michael biased and ignorant rants.

Typical American conservatwitism...

Here's some homicide rates for you all to digest...

TEN WORST LARGE U.S. CITIES FOR MURDER, 2002 (from http://www.benbest.com/lifeext/murder.html):
(Homicides PER 100,000)
(1) Washington, DC 45.8
(2) Detroit 42.0
(3) Baltimore 38.3
(4) Memphis 24.7
(5) Chicago 22.2
(6) Philadelphia 19.0
(7) Columbus 18.1
(8) Milwaukee 18.0
(9) Los Angeles 17.5
(10) Dallas 15.8

TEN SAFEST LARGE CITIES FOR MURDER, 2002:
(Homicides PER 100,000)
(1) Honolulu 2.0
(2) El Paso 2.4
(3) San Jose 3.1
(4) Austin 3.7
(5) San Diego 3.8
(6) Portland 3.9
(7) Seattle 4.5
(8) New York 7.3
(9) San Francisco 7.3
(10) Oklahoma City 8.5

Canadian large cities 2002 homicde rates, (pop. 500,000 or more) from http://www.statcan.ca/Daily/English/031001/d031001a.htm:
(Homicides PER 100,000)
Winnipeg 3.41
Vancouver 3.26
Edmonton 2.79
Hamilton 1.97
Montréal 1.87
Toronto 1.80
Calgary 1.52
Ottawa3 0.93
Québec 0.44

So, the murder rate in Toronto is well below average for a large Canadian city. Murder rates are 8-25 times higher in the worst U.S. cities than in Toronto. If Toronto were grouped with U.S. statistics, it would be the safest large city in the U.S. In fact, Winnipeg, which had the highest murder rate in Canada, would have been the 4th safest U.S. city in 2002!

Of course, the same American right-wing that's trying to ban Internet poker is too dumb to know better.

Yes, there is a problem, and we must get this gun violence under control, and, yes, ONE murder is too many. But it is absolutely ridiculous to say that Toronto is "like any big American city", or like Iraq (!). Let's put this in perspective, people!

Are people more or less likely to shoot each other if they have guns? doesn't take a genius. Your posts, like this one:

Are people without guns more likely to be sniveling little sheep who will accept government tyranny? Yes (Say subjects of a monarch rather than citizens?)

Are people without guns helpless beings who are food for any group of armed thugs that happens to come along, be they government organized or not? Yes.

Are guns objects that can be easily manufactured anywhere? Yes.

Can criminals get their hands on objects that can be manufactured anywhere, but are contraband? Yes.

Can governments manufacture guns? Yes.

Do government guns find their way into criminals' hands, like say oh the Mexican army guys who are in with the drug lords? yes.

Have we seen how thin the veneer of government control is? Take the recent hurricane for the latest minor example?

Doesn't take a genius.

Now, about that thing called Canadian culture....

Now THAT is an extraordinarily strange gun-nut rant, congratulations.

I'll translate it for the rest of us: "big gun = big penis".
