I fold this like 100% of the time.

I mean the only hand you are ahead of is a semi-bluff with a flushdraw and I don't like taking that race this early.

EDIT: I also bet 2/3 to the pot on the flop. Also SOMETIMES you will see AJos but not nearly enough to even close to justify making this call.

I would tend fold this too, BB could have trips, or played an A-rag and hit two pair. That said, I would not slow-play a made hand on that board too often, so I am suspicious of his check. But, it's too early to risk your tournament, and this early it's highly impropable you have a good read.

Its a very easy fold....

but one side note on the hand... If this is PS... some of the turbo players feel 'rushed' and WOULD push in w/ANY TP kicker...just figurin' top pair is cause for poopin' yourself and the blinds are gonne be turboed - I need chips!

But unless I have cause to think that this guy is one of those guys - I fold.

I think the variety of straight/flush draws that are this board could hold would cause me to be so wary.

People would play such a hand in the exact same way and I have no desire to take that race.

Fold. Watch this player carefully in the future.

On a side note, do any of you ever play a set this fast at the 11's if you're the villain? I'll occassionally play it exactly the same in this situation knowing that many of these guys can't get off their top pair.

Ehhhh. I'll shut up. Didn't see this was a turbo, which I don't play.

As others have said, this is a fold at this point without a read that the BB is obscenely bad.

But I'd feel a lot better about folding here if I'd bet more, your bet looks weak and probably isn't the best bet here. I like 200ish.

I think this hand would be really interesting if it happened on the 15/30 or 25/50 level. Depends somewhat on stacks still, but I think it's probably a call at 25/50 and debatable at 15/30.

Early on at the 11 turbos - I'll play anything fast if its a standard loosey table. YES - I've gone all in with aces when the blinds were 10/20...you'd be shocked at the action I've gotten.

Your 1/2 pot bet on this board may have contributed to the fix you found yourself in.

Fold.

Yup, if you called this everytime, I think it would be slightly -EV, not as bad as we imagine, and that you'd be truly surprised at what sort of hands you see.

Turbos make people really trigger happy for some reason. And the less than half pot bet invites a big "re-steal." I wouldn't be surprised if the BB had air here 5-10% of the time

I totally agree...and I think theres at least another 5-10% to add if not more .... of the time that has Ax.

Funny, my instinct would be to call this at a $15 turbo tournament.

12-28-2005, 12:17 PM
Too much to risk early on. Yes you could double up.. but you could also bust. Just not worth it, especially for level one. AQ is only good to take small/medium pots early...though... if it were me, I'd probably call while opening up the next SNG.

It is close.

But a significant portion of the "good" players in these games play sets and two pair this way, which I believe skews it into fold territory.

I was gonna say the same thing. You'll be ahead more than some other responders have said.
