In the town of Texas Hold'em you have two kinds of runners. There is the long distance runner, who runs towards the River with aggressive caution. He doesn't run in every race, because he likes to have an edge. The long distance runner doesn't win every race but he wins a great many of the races he starts. Then there's the sprinter, he loves to race, and speed is his stock and trade. The sprinter will find any excuse to race, his motto is, run fast, jump high and let the chips fall where they may. They say the long distance runner is a survivor, he doesn't burn up like so many of the sprinters.

So where have all the long distance runners gone? It appears that, here in the Chicago land area, the long distance runners to the River have been replaced by the sprinters. These hybrid sprinters, run fast, jump over long odds, and fail to heed the warning signs at the Turn or at the River's edge. They rush their entry fees into the collection pot, faster than white on rice. With nerves of steel, they face the competition like a rabbit in heat. Ready to rush their way past the Turn, while raising their pathetic hands in a frantic race to the River. At the River you can hear them splashing into the water, with crying calls, as they yell, "HELP ME, I CAN'T SWIM!" The life guard Mr Dealer can't save them all, so most of them drown. But, there is always one lucky one who gets saved by a miracle floating card. The few long distance runners still left in the Chicago land area can be recognized by their big hands and clumsy feet, that keep tripping on those floating cards. Some of the few surviving long distance runners here in Chicago, have been found down river. They are usually found water logged, sitting on a rock, while shaking their heads in a back an forth motion, a classic sign of River Hysteria.

Unofficial reports from a poker room employee, who wishes to stay anonymous, disclosed that many of these long distance runners have found new careers. However, some can't stay away from the action and are currently on the rail looking to get their checks cashed. One long distance runner got a stake from a friend and re-entered the competition to the River. During one race he held onto a couple of fast rockets, but was shot down by a guy named Jack Benny who found two pears growing on a tree at the river.

SPM,...running against the sprinters but only surviving by a slim margin...
