Just wondering why so many of the good players on here who are making 20-100 dollars an hour only work around 20-30 hours a week.
Thanks

Because it's a good balance between income and having a life.

If you play poker and don't have a life, you'll end up in a sanitarium.

People play poker so they can have free time and do what they want.

My only concern, and I'd have to check with my accountant, is that it would put me into a higher tax bracket.

Hmm. Must suck to have to pay tax.

I read that article in the 2+2 magazine about taxes. Should I really be paranoid about that and start putting money aside for it?

I don't really work to an hourly rate. I have a target of 5k a week. I'll go all out starting Monday to hit that target and I'm usually done by Wednesday/Thursday. I get a nice long weekend, but I'll play some big MTTs on Sunday if I get the itch.

That sounds like a good plan!

Why wouldn't you want to be in a higher tax bracket?

I assume he was just quoting from The Big Lebowski and not really concerned with taxes.

You only pay higher taxes on the amount that you earn above the cutoff for the tax bracket. Its never going to lose you money...you just won't keep as much of the extra income.
