This past weekend I helped a friend's dad with a big lobster party he was throwing. At the end of the evening while things were well wound down we sat on the porch and he brought out a nice cigar and a drink for me. After a taste of the bourbon I was pleasently surprised and asked him what it was. He told me it was Old Grandad 114, one of the small batches that they make. I had never seen this in a store or restaurant/bar and didn't even think they made anything other than the 80 proof crap that is readily available. The 80 was cheap enough for me to afford in undergrad and grad school so I know that stuff pretty well although I have a hard time drinking the stuff now. The 114 has a great lingering taste. A good solid round flavor. It is a bit on the really sweet side so if that isn't to your tastes then you might not enjoy this stuff. If you can find it I think it might be worth buying a bottle to try though.
