My friend seems to think this Vette can do a 0-60 in 1.7sec.

I've seen between 1.7 & 3.5sec big disparity; help us resolve this.

Knowing nothing about the car, I'm gonna say it's closer to your figure. Much closer...

Why not just buy an Atom and smoke him while spending less?

I'm also more curious about the 2002 year Vette or whatever year before they started churrning out the Z06 beecause that is one fast whip.

A regular Ligenfelter C6 can do 0-60 in 3.7. I doubt that the Z06 package drops 2 seconds from that figure.

The bugatti veyron manages 2.5sec to 60. If you find the right LMP car, you may manage closer to 2.1-2.3 or so.

There's essentially nothing you can do to a vette to get it to 1.7, and 3.5 sounds about right. The Z06 does 3.9, iirc.

Lingenfelter Performance Engineering does several different packages. I saw a video once of a Lingenfelter Vette from some TV show. They said that the owner asked LPE to build the fastest Vette they'd ever built, and what he got back was a stock-looking silver car with 800+ RWHP. It did the quarter in 8.95 seconds at 153 mph. According to this site (http://www.fast-autos.net/lingenfelter/lingenfelter427tt.html) it does 0-60 in 1.97 seconds. This was a C5 (2001), but it's a 427TT, similar (at least in displacement) to the Lingenfelter Z07 cars. I would guess that with the appropriate suspension and tires, the Lingenfelter Z07 cars should be in the low 2 second range for the most part, but I couldn't find any data to back that up.

Nomad,

The numbers on that site look wacky, I suspect they are wrong.

I don't think John Carmack's Testarossa (no I don't know if he still has it) could do that. I guarantee that monster had more horsepower than your buddy's Vette.

I'm not a car buff. I don't get excited about quarter-miles or engines or [censored]. I would buy that car in a second. That just looks like it'd be a blast to drive.

The video of the Atom from the UK TV series Top Gear is worth downloading if you can find it.

For now, yeah. I think I've got some travel coming up in January, though. In which case, you'll be more likely to find me at Ocean's Eleven than on here. That is, if you're in the San Diego area.

c5 = ls1
c5 zo6 = ls6 very similar to ls1 also 5.7l 346 cid
c6 = ls2 6.0 bigger badder than both the ls1 and ls6
c6 z06 = ls7 427 cid 7.1 baddest chevy engine available in a production car

a c6 z06 will blow the doors off just about any car you can find on the road.....an LPE z06 would make say a lambo/ferrari etc of choice feel slow if you were to drive them 1 after another it would even beat sport bikes on the highway thats how fast that car really is.

as far as 1.7 0-60 on a street you would just roast the tires. However on a track with a good driver its very possible. You always have to remember to that joe shmoe cant just jump in a car like this and cut a 8.xx 1/4 mile thats a professional the average sports car driver i would think is hard pressed to do better than maybe a 10.5.

Haha, don't know much about cars?

If the Vette has good tires and is set up for 1/4 mile racing, 0-60 in 1.7 will be had.

someone look up some 60-0 distances, and figure out the deceleration and associated time. that is good enough for the maximum force that all 4 tires can exert on the vette. i wonder how close it will be to 1.7 seconds. i seriously wonder if the rear tires can possibly push a vette to 60 in 1.7 sec. regardless of the HP. especially if the 1000 HP AWD veyron can't break 2 seconds.

i'm going to venture further and say that without computers (traction control devices) no human can achieve 1.7 seconds, even with the maximum rubber that will fit in the C6 wheel wells.
