I'm in the BB w/AKo.

UTG opens for $220. (Neither of us involved in 1st hand so both stacks T$1500.)

Folds around.

Yes, that would be fine. Why do we have to wait for the flop to play poker?

Why did villian bet so much?

I'd probably just fold this without any reads. Raising that much from UTG probably means he wants to get money in with a big pair right? He's got position on you and at best you're up against something like AJ or AQ. It's just not worth risking a lot this early in the tournament IMO.
