Just returned with my wife from a day at the Borgata in AC. a few thoughts based on other posts from the first of the month:

I still like the poker room here the best. OK it’s not the cavern that the Taj is and yes I wish it was larger but…..The lighting and atmosphere is first rate. My wife found the room to be cold, I found it cool, both of us wish we had brought a sweater.

THE GOOD….
They seem to have gotten most of the bugs out of the electronic signup system with two exceptions: 1. They are VERY quick to final call you, so unless you are right at the podium, you need to make a lot of noise and waive like crazy to get their attention.
2. They desperately need speakers in the waiting area in front of the podium by the grill. Unless you are actually IN the poker room (ala Mirage) it’s very hard to hear the PA.

I would like to see one or two of the ceiling monitors in the room post the sign-up board so if you are waiting to a different game you can see where you are at without running up to the podium.

The chairs – 50/50 on this. I was in seat 3 on the corner and did OK – but I would prefer better back support. My wife was in seat 6 directly across from the dealer and kept getting the wheeled base tangled up with the players on either side of her.

Chips – SLICK- with luck they will scuff a little and be less inclined to vacuum lock together. A casino in British Columbia uses the exact same chips and once they wore a little they were much easier to handle. They did a good job of keeping the chip racks stocked so you didn’t have to go to the cage.

Drinks and waitress service – very good, requests were filled promptly and correctly. They could add one more server after 3pm. The waitresses – WOW! Enuff said.

This is the first casino that I’ve seen using ultra-suede instead of felt for the table tops – I like it! We’ll see how it wears

We got into the room about 10:30am and had a short wait for a 3-6 HE game and a longer wait for a 2-4 HE game. The 8-16 and 20-40 games were not running yet.
They did a good job of keeping up with demand as the day went on. There were plenty of dealers and they were more than willing to open tables.

The action – good action on loose/weak aggressive games. “No Fold’em Hold’em” all the way through 8-16. Really wild play on the 2/4 3/6 tables with large multiway (5+) showdowns. Reminded me of playing in a play money 3/6 game on Paradise.

THE BAD:
Snack bar/grill – lose it, fire’em, burn it down, what ever it takes. If it’s not going to get better close it. It’s pretty bad when they screw up a hot dog.

Dealers – Major room for improvement. A few good ones, many so-so and some really bad ones. Unfamiliar with the rules, (side pots; dead cards; splitting pots). Poor check handling (COUNT YOUR CHIPS AND CHANGE!) Watch the pot – One dealer couldn’t figure out that a cap raise back to the first caller on the flop in a 3/6 game was 12; first call (3) + 3 bets (9) = 12.. Missed hands (yes 5 clubs does beat his 3 10’s) Caught several color change errors when making pot change ie; call with a nickel on the flop 3/6; called around; pushed out 1 white check instead of 2..

The comp system – geared to slot players, slow for poker players (low limit is 1 point per hour played up to 8-16, 2 points per hour played 20/40 and up). You might want to go upstairs & throw a few winnings into the video poker to pump your points.

ALL IN ALL – a very good experience.

They seem willing to listen to suggestions and advice (my wife suggested that they put coat hooks on the back of the ladies room stall doors so they can hang their purse. One week later – voila!

We’re going back in 2 weeks so we’ll see what’s changed.

I rate the Borgata /images/graemlins/diamond.gif /images/graemlins/diamond.gif /images/graemlins/diamond.gif

I think the chairs are the best. Best back support of any chair in any poker room. The back of the chairs is adjustable, maybe you didn't know this.

You are soooo right. Not only is the food mediocre at best, the service is slow.

I got the whole seat to tilt but I'd really like the backs to come forward.

My other thought on the chairs is they ARE NOT going to last long.
