I played some limit holdem tournaments in Paradise Poker.
In the earlier rounds, there is alot of skill involved,
but when there is 3-5 people left, and you're past level VI, then it's mostly luck. Because the blinds and bet levels are huge. When the bets reach 1000/2000, then 2 or 3 bets will put both players all in.

I disagree completely - the early rounds are ABC poker and the real skill begins when there are five or less.

Its not the short handed aspect that he is complaining about, its the fact that the blinds are so big in the late stages that its basically just a matter of having a decent starting hand and hoping it holds up. Basically you are just going "all-in" if you decide to play.

Same problem in NL tourneys though. Have you ever had 4 people left in a tourney when it reaches the highest blind level and the blinds are half your stack? Its just stupid.

Curious how many players started at what chip count.
Sounds like they don't give enough chips for the blind structures.

10 players, 1000 chips each.

I believe the limits start at 15/30 and basically double every 10 hands. By the time its down to the final 2 or 3 its usually at least 500/1000 with average stacks of 3-4k.
