Am I getting the right odds to complete or were these 2 hands just waste of chips?

first one im check/calling maybe even raising on the flop to see where im at. the 2nd one looks fine.

Raise the first one to 120. I normally muck preflop in the second one but the way you played it seems fine, especially since you seem to be only playing when you flop big, you won't get yourself into massive trouble by calling a minraise OOP like that.

I actually don't mind mucking in the first one. Your hand is ok but there are 3 players behind you and if you raise you're likely to get a caller. When you do the pot will be sort of big on the turn; you'll be OOP & unsure of where you stand, cos the draws won't have folded but the made hands won't necessarily have re-raised, this being a $10. Plus you may not even have the SB beat...I think with that little bet into a big field he will have 2 pair or more a fair amount of the time. Of course most of the time he won't have you beat, but it's another factor to consider.
If you just call instead of raising, you let all the draws in cheaply & may get raised off the best hand. However calling does keep the pot small, keeps you in the hand when you're likely best & getting good odds from the pot, & lets you get away cheaply when you're beat.
I dunno, I kinda like calling. Would love to hear more thoughts on this hand.
