iPod question

hey guys,
i got an iPod for christmas, but suck at technology. Is there anyway to hook up my iPod to my reciever and play it through my reciever and speakers? I know you can buy a iPod specific speaker, but would like to be able to hook it up to my normal reciever and speakers if possible. Thanks in advance for any help.

Buy a mini jack (the one that goes into the ipod head phone slot) - phono converter. The phono plug should be plugged into the receivers input plug somewhere.
