i open push this with <8BB (even UTG).

were you planning on folding to any kind of reraise -- or was the 450 an attempt to get action?

I push first.

I thought 450 seemed more scary of a bet than a push from UTG. But now that I think about it, pushing makes sense.

my general feeling at 11s and 22s in these spots is that a push is FAR more +EV than the 3xBB raise (now, i have never used SNGPT... this is just my feeling after lots of iteration).

lots of folks in these games will call away 450, even if they've only got 1100 left -- with AK/AQ/AJ or even KQ. needless to say, some of those hands will beat you on the flop every now and again.

naturally, those same hands will occassionally beat you on the flop if they call your push; it's just that they're less likely to call your push than your 450.

huh, and all this time ive been wanting people to call w/AK/AQ/AJ/KQ when i hold QQ. wonder where i went wrong.

okay. i'm not thinking terribly clearly, and looking back i may have phrased that vaguely -- i blame the abundance of xmas wine.

obviously, you want people to call you with AK/AQ/AJ/KQ when hero has QQ. my last post was pretty much nonsense.

okay so let me think about this: you push (and not raise 450) for the following reasons:

1) you want to avoid multi-way pots
2) you're not going to fold to reraise, so be the aggressor and exploit gap concept to its fullest

what else am i missing?

If people are gonna push back / call you with AK/AQ/AJ/KQ, they'll probably call a push too?

I push preflop...and I don't want to be called by AK...but that's just me.
