So today I was walking through the 1st floor of the Bellagio parking garage, noticing an unusual number of cars idling and moving slowly. I couldn't remember if my car was parked on the 1st or 2nd floor, so I made a casual sweep through the 1st level to make sure.

As I was doing this, I had numerous people roll down their windows and ask me if I was about to leave. They were stopped and blocking traffic, plus I didn't know where my car was parked, so I told them no.

It turns out my car was parked on the 2nd floor, where there were vast amounts of open spaces. So obviously my pet peeve in parking lots/garages are people who wait upwards of 1-2 minutes, blocking traffic, in order to grab a parking spot that someone might be backing out of. Had they taken the time to drive up another level they would have easily found a spot, without greatly inconveniencing others.

Personally I normally just automatically park on the 2nd or 3rd level whenever I go to places like Wynn and Bellagio, simply because I know I will find a spot on those floors 99% of the time, whereas the 1st floor is generally occupied. Anyone else have this or other annoyances in parking lots?

My biggest parking annoyance is stupid-ass [censored] giant SUVs and vans I can't see around when backing out of a space. I don't have a problem with them on the roads; it's really only in parking lots that they annoy me.

No similar story, but I almost always just drive up to the top of the garage if it's not raining, and the level just below that if it is. Parking on the 1st floor is just a waste of time mostly.

I hate the pricks who park their monster trucks in compact spaces.

My parking lot pet peeve? Lazy f**ks who leave shopping carts in the middle of parking spaces.

I always seem to park in a lot where two immortals battle it out. As if the slashed tires and dented hoods weren't enough, then that stupid quickening happens and all the windows and headlights blow out too! I always loose my head when that happens!

Deservedly so, IMO.

I can't stand those [censored] who take up two spots.

you need to sometimes. the 96 civic that i drive (my mother's) is very valuable and you can't risk something happening to it.

But I think I'd still add an extra * for not being able to spell a 4-letter word like 'lose.'

A well-designed parking garage lets you drive directly to an upper level without winding around stuck behind slowpokes.

Hawaiian Gardens Casino is supposed to start construction of a large parking garage in a few months. Once it's finished customers will park there during construction of the new casino building (I think they will end up with more tables than Commerce). I'm hoping the garage and new building will be a top design, I live only a few minutes away.

My will be that people that speed in a parking garage. I mean you know people are walking around inside, and it is probably tight if its an older model garage. People that come through flying at 25-30mph need a good bitch slap to the face. Speeding in the garage saves little time, and you are putting random people walking around at risk.

I hate when one of them gets in the left hand turning lane across from mine. For all I know, it's clear behind him, but without the Inspector Gadget head, you have know way of knowing, so you have to wait for the red light.

Also hate the wide-bodied vehicles that park on narrow streets.

People driving the wrong way in angled areas. Those who take your space. Employees who take closest spaces. Taking up more than one space/ not parking centered. Speeders/people who don't look at intersections. In big letters $3 parking, in super tiny letters, for first 15 minutes.

Take a tip from some commedian I heard once (sorry, no credit).

When you see people following you, just walk up to one of the really close spaces; one right next to the entrance. Take out your key and stand there for like five minutes just screwing with your key-chain or looking through your wallet, etc. Then slowly turn around and say, "Wait a minute. This isn't my car!" and walk off.

this only slightly annoys me. when these same ppl slam on the breaks and have the nerve to make the "get the [censored] out of the road" face at me after almost ending my life...that sir is when I start thinking devious and destructive thoughts. EVEN more so when its in my apt complex as I feel the need to be extra curdious around my neighbors.

Paying $200 to park in pothole-filled parking lots outside at Umass-Amherst, getting shoveled in by the plows when it snows, and having to park 5 minutes from my dorm because the parking lot directly behind my dorm is full of stupid-f*cking freshman who never move their cars. Walking down the hill to my dorm also sucks since it's covered in ice /images/graemlins/mad.gif

People that hug the inner line when parking at the end of a row.

People who lack the coordination to accurately back into a space, but attempt to do so anyway.

People who park illegally when there are spaces available 40 feet away.

People who insist on taking the time to back into a spot when there is a long line of cars behind them (esp. in garages).

People who don't pull-through when the opportunity is available.

I think with the way most people drive, going forward out of their spot saves time (b/c they can't drive backwards). I'm flexible on this one, but maybe it's more of a personal preference thing, don't know.
