1/2 Party Poker, typical feeding ground.

On the button I find:

K /images/graemlins/diamond.gif (Caesar), K /images/graemlins/club.gif (Alexander)

4 limpes to me and I raise, SB (tricky-check-raisey-over agressive-fishy) calls, BB calls, All others call.

Flop: 2 /images/graemlins/club.gif 3 /images/graemlins/club.gif 7 /images/graemlins/diamond.gif

Checked to me I bet, SB check-raises (now, he would do this with any str8/flush draw, set or a hand like A7o or even T7o).
All fold to me and I 3-bet, SB calls.

Turn: J /images/graemlins/heart.gif

He checks, I bet, he calls.

River: 7 /images/graemlins/club.gif

He pauses and checks...

What do you do?

Hmmm, tough spot Larry.

But if your read on him is spot on
he would do this with any str8/flush draw, set or a hand like A7o or even T7o

You now lose, and are pretty damn certain to be checkraised with the flush, and a 7. And if he has the (missed) straight draw he really won't have anything to call.

Are you 2/3rds certain that he doesn't have the flush or trips? Based on his play, neither am I.
Unless he has a middling pocket pair you don't have a lot of hands he'd call with either.

In this situation I'd usually bet.
Based on your read though, I think I'd check. [I'm thinking he has the 7]

Indeed I do...this one dude TBarclay is a classic example of a weak-tight old man who thinks he should automatically win because he plays tight, despite the fact that he has no postflop skills. Then when he doesn't crush the game he berates the loosies for playing too many hands and explains the many reasons why they suck. Blah.
