View Full Version : TD 2-7: Dropping the 8 when I have three of them

Raising 862 here is pretty loose, but works OK at 2/4 (not so much at 4/8).

Here's my thought process on the second draw: once I get three of the 8s, it's most likely that all my opponents are drawing to sevens. Rather than get married to an 8762 and possibly draw dead, I'd rather be drawing to a seven as well or else fold the next round.

If it was HU I would stick with the 8762 draw.

Thoughts?

(Note SB's heroic play of drawing three twice. Maybe he had all the 7s.)

You can get away with this (and it's probably correct) at 2/4 and below, where nobody keeps early nines. At 4/8+, you'll get slaughtered. Of course, you won't have many 4-way pots there either.
