I was making horrible calls and plays during finals week last week, im assuming its because i had tests and what not in the back of my mind. Probably because i should have been studying but oh well. Aced my biochem class anyways. Anyone else playing during finals encounter seeing themselves make brain fart moves?

i like to avoid poker during exams/project time for a few reasons

1. the slight chance of screwing up on a final and getting a crappy grade is much more significant than playing a few hours of poker to win a couple dollars

2. if im going to play i want to be able to focus 100%, either studying may make you tired or playing a lot of poker can get the brain stressed out, thus making your attempts to study even harder than usual.

basically what im gettin is that if theres going to be one week where i aint playin poker, it might as well be finals week

I had the same horrible week. I screw up my whole bankroll during the week because I mixed:
1. Vacation time. (DPWB--Don't Play While Bored) and
2. Final exams

They just dont mix together.
When I was studying I wanted to play poker, and when I was playing, I thought I should've been studying. UUGGGHHH.
-EV big time.

I dont go to class so Im not ballsy enough to play poker during finals week, Im usually learning an entire semester in 5 classes in like 5 days... if I WAS playing poker I would probably want to make big bucks quick and get off to study, so it could lead to major tilt city.

Before finals I was just playing during the weekend. For finals (and one midterm a week before that), I didn't play for about 3 weeks leading up to it.

After playing poker, I'm always distracted for a little while thinking about what happened. While this may just take a couple hours, it may take a whole day or two. So not something I wanted to risk for finals.

It's not like I didn't learn the hard way too... So it's actually never too late to change your habits. You just have to have the desire to do it.

Yes I find myself more distracted in both poker AND studying during finals week if I play. I try to play very little (if possible). The extra time after finals to play more than makes up for it...not to mention the brake from poker I think also helps...

Great addition to the thread. I'm sure it really helped the original poster and everyone else by pointing out that I made a spelling error.

I will be the first to admit I suck at spelling.

By senior year its so hard to raise GPA that I gave up and drank and played poker way too much.

I uninstall my poker software from my computer during finals week. There's nothing more depressing than having a losing session when you were supposed to be studying.
