background -

If you collect the Simpsons - the box for season 6 was radically different from 1-5 -

There was some bellyaching from DVD collectors, and if you sent in a proof of purchase and called a phone number (where Homer Simpson mocks you for being afraid of change) - you got a URL where you got your box.

For some reason, this bugged me enough to get the regular cardboard box - did it bug anyone else? - I see Season 7 has both versions available.

I didn't really care about the box being different, it was more that it was a pain in the ass to deal with (e.g. the way it opened, how the contents spilled out when you opened Homer's head). The shape was no problem, it was more how it was engineered.

I haven't done it yet, but I plan to. I'm obsessive compulsive about my DVD collection.

I thought it was great. I really don't care what it comes in, and I thought it was pretty neat they made it look like his head.

Season 7 is Marge's head....looks like you'll be sending in for another box!

took me 8 weeks -

looks a little diff. from the front - but from the side it looks exactly the same motif...

my head was bent and damaged so I had double the reason to be peeved - but it took so long I looked to see if season 6 was gonna be released the other way or not. I almost would have bought it for the real box...

as Yoda would say...very anal are we...LOL

Simpsons Season 6 DVD Sales Lower Than Expectations.
-5:45 PM 12/31/06, AP Staff

Fox News Corp reported today that sales of the sixth season of Matt Groenig's "The Simpsons" have been much lower than market expectations. While projections by media analyst groups had the latest edition of the Fox Networks animated cornerstone to be in the millions as of the end of business on monday, there was only one copy sold in northern minnesota. Speculation has arised that everyone else just completely forgot to ask for it.

No word on how this will affect the future release of Simpsons Season 7.

I didn't like the old style either. DVD's would sometimes come tumbling out when you opened the boxes, or from handling during shipping. Opening them was a big clumsy affair. I'd prefer just something like they have in season 7, a thin area to hold a stack of disks, and disk-sized extras piled on top. Something that as people are saying fits where you normally store your other DVD's or CD's.
