I've been playing NL for about a year now, mostly 6 ppl tourneys at my house, and a few trips to the casino for some 3/6. I kill my home games, so I decided to try some online poker. I signed up on Party Poker with $200 and joined the .5/1 NL 6 max games. In 4 hours my bankroll was up to $808! I was feeling pretty damn good. I played the next morning for about an hour before work, and made another $147.

Got home that night and decided to play most of the night. Ended the night $350 down. Pretty depressing! Played the next 2 days, and managed to go completely broke. Like ZERO in my account broke... Now I make pretty good money at my job, so losing my initial $200 is no biggy, I'm just so mad at myself for working up to that much and losing it all so fast. Of course I took some horrible beats along the way, and some people made some donkey plays against me, but that's poker. Now I'm wondering if I give it another go. I felt like when I was playing, I was better than just about all of my opponents, especially when I was on that good run; people were leaving the table because they said they didn't want to play vs. me anymore (pretty nice feeling).

Any advice or suggestions from someone who's been in a similar situation?

Swallow your pride and search the beginners forum for "bankroll" management strategies. Basically, never play with less than 20 buy-ins at your NL level. That's $2000 at .50/1!!

You are playing way out of your roll, read FAQ.
