10/20 6-max (5-handed)

Hero is Button with A /images/graemlins/spade.gif 9 /images/graemlins/diamond.gif

Preflop: Hero raises, SB 3-bets, BB calls, Hero calls.

SB is 24/14 and BB is 23/17 over large samples. Both have classical good TAG stats. I saw them play a hand against each other where <SB> raised the hijack with AJ, <BB> 3-bet from cutoff with AK, and some bad LAG called in the blinds. The LAG checked the 3-small flop, <SB> donked, and <BB> raised.

Flop (9 SB) 7 /images/graemlins/spade.gif 6 /images/graemlins/club.gif 3 /images/graemlins/club.gif (3 players)
All check.

Turn (4.5 BB) 8 /images/graemlins/spade.gif
SB bets, BB folds, Hero calls.

River (6.5 BB) Q /images/graemlins/spade.gif
SB bets, Hero folds.

Why no flop bet?

The way you played it, I fold the river too.

i cant spot the question which either means this is a fixed hand or one of us has no clue

raising the river is about the only thing i can contemplate but thats a special line - i think the SB hit because i cant figure he would value bet a no pair hand on the end

I think this looks okay. You may win this by betting both the flop and turn but that is in the unlikely event that both have overs and neither are stubborn with them. Kind of a big parlay and it may also require firing the last barrel and avoiding a flop or turn checkraise. You play goot.

I don't think it's unlikely both have overcards. SB presumably would have 3-bet pf with a pair. BB could have anything, willng to call because of the odds.

But I would like to discuss the flop check more. Without resorting to actual math, I'm guessing that we don't have to win the pot on the flop that often for the bet to be correct. Remember, we are not obligated to bet the turn, particularly not if both players called.
