My wife and I are taking a Carnival cruise through the Florida Keys and west coast of Mexico in the new year. It's our first real vacation (anywhere...ever...and we're not particularly young), and it's paid for through poker. She noticed that our ship is listed as one of those with a casino providing Texas Hold'em poker, and a picture showed a proper 10 player table, so it's not some silly Hold'em style table game. I do NOT intend to spend my vacation hunched over a couple of cards, but I might take in a few hours. I was just wondering if anyone had cruised Carnival lately on a ship with Hold'em, and if so what kinds of limits or no limit games were offered and at what kind of rake. The website and brochures are giving me nothing.

I haven't, but I'm going to go out on a limb here and say that if there's ever somewhere likely to have a soft game, I would think that's got to be it - just a few hours may be all it takes to pay for your next vacation too!

Limits on Spirit were always 5/10. Rake 10% up to $5.00. Played with the big, stiff, blind person cards.

"I played in 4 sessions of the $3/$6 game and lost $100 each time. The game was unbeatable. Any two cards could, and usually did, win!"

Ruh roh.
