Good wireless mouse for cheap?

I have a friend who wants a wireless mouse for xmas. I've heard rave reviews about stuff like the mx1000 (or whatever it's called), but I'm not really ready to ship out $80 for a damned mouse. Any suggestions for things <$40?

If you buy the mx1000 or any wireless mouse it gets very heavy because of the batteries. I wouldn't recommend them. I have a mx500 and I love it despite its wiredness. Maybe the mx1000 would be better if you unscrewed the unit and took out the the weight inside of the unit. I'm not sure there is one in there though, I know theres one in the mx500 though since I took it out and maybe the other models are similar.

I have a Mx1000, I don't consider it to be heavy.

With that said, look around for a Microsoft optical mouse.
