UB 215. Russ Hamilton in the SB. He has been playing very well (shocker cause he's a world champ) and pretty solid.

Blinds 50-100 I've got about 1900 and I open raise in CO-2 for 350 with tens. He's in SB with about 3k and makes it 1100 to go.

Is this an easy decision either way?

Note: i've been playing solid as well, table has been tough and I haven't been able to pull my usual tricks.

I think I made a horrible decision so go ahead and tell me I'm crap.

I'd fold, given your read. I don't see him doing this with any "worse" hands, except AK.

Yeah I'm terrible. I guess his range might be either AQo and great or AQs greater and TT plus.

I'm horrible. Maybe I'll dig up pokerstove to see how off I was.

Anyone else think fold?

Edit to say against that range its almost exactly ev neutral, but marginally a call.

Does that range look about right? I guess thats the 25,000 question.

I don't even know if its AQo. This early people rarely are that aggro preflop.

The interesting thing about this hand (maybe the only thing) is you have proper odds to call if he makes a move with AQ0, improper if he doesn't.

I doubt he gets frisky with nines but who knows.

He flipped over jacks and I was out.

I think its close but I should have let it go.

I take it you pushed, and he called?

Pocket tens have about the same effect on me as three days without sleep followed by a blow to the head with an aluminum bat. It's like taking a great big stupid pill.

I'd probably push as well, but I need to remember that despite all appearences TT is a whole lot closer to 99 than it is to JJ.

You are folding because you are crippled if you call and lose this one. You'll be calling off your money- a no-no in NL.

You might have pushed in there preflop. Better that way than this way-- for "virtually all" your chips. That preflop push didnt happen-- oh well.

You leave yourself 8 big blinds if you call. These will be going in for sure after the flop.

Not a good situation. Not an easy decision either.

Fold now, leave yourself 15.5 big blinds and wait for a better spot. You missed your chance to push preflop IMO.

Open pushing preflop with 19xbb and TT is pretty bad here. The only hand you're significantly behind that you maybe fold out is JJ. There's no reason to be so scared of seeing a flop with a 19xbb stack or having to make a decision for the remainder of your stack pre or post flop.

You can make an argument for calling or folding based on your image and image of reraiser. Given that your image is tight and reraiser is tight, I'd lean towards folding, but it's close.

I thought it was a bit interesting in the sense it really comes down to AQo/99 making this move at all. To make the action clear, sorry for the confusion:

I raised to 350, he made it 1100 and I pushed in. He flipped over jacks.

The thing is I might get frisky with AQ or 99 in his shoes.

I had been playing solid but I was just getting into that 20x zone where I really start to open up.

And when I say I was playing solid, I was playing well, not weak tight but not as aggressive as I wanted.

The problem was the table was pretty good, not a lot of weak spots.

That also moved me towards a call.

Edit to say its funny how often tens are the hand that leaves you either scratching your head in love with poker.

I went out of the Crypto $560 losing a flip to tens with AQS, I donked out of the Million GTD with tens flopping an overpair, and I watched a friend lose with a set of tens to A9 on a t-9-2 board.

I figured I could throw that in cause its not my bad beat.

I agree to some extent with what Sam T says about tens being closer to nines, but I also think it just points out the nature of multis where your life hangs on these moments.

Oh well, I don't want to become one of those people El Diablo say needs a blog.

Against AQo, tens up its 40.3-59.7 add in nines its 44-56.
