In the Edit User function, there is a checkbox for Underage.

What is the impact to the user of having this box checked?

It prevents his use of the pm facility.

I haven't seen any other consequence, yet.

I'm not sure why PMs would violate this, but OK.

So why is it being used on 16 year olds? I think we need to figure out what "underage" means in this context.

What makes it even more fun is that COPA was already overturned by the supreme court.

Preventing use of the pm facility is a consequence of checking the underage box.

That consequence is a result of the way this general forum software is designed, but, in fact, it is not a result that Mat requires.

Therefore, if anyone has checked any poster's underage box, please uncheck it and make a note in the User Notes box, instead. (Athough even taking this latter course is not vital, in any case, and only suggested, by me, as an appropriate aide memoire.)

Thanks.
